Croq, priest of St. Sulpice, and translated by Rose Harrington, n.d., with words arranged Iroquois to English. Also, Natick-English dictionary compiled from Eliot's Natick Bible by William Wallace Tooker. Three additional vocabularies include Hunkpapa Sioux language, collected by De Cost Smith, 1884; Tiqua language as spoken in Taos, New Mexico, compiled by Harry S. Budd, 1885-1886; and Hudson Bay Eskimo, n.d.

DeCost Smith was born in Skaneateles, New York, about 1865, the son of Reul Smith. He studied art in Paris and New York City and traveled around the world doing paintings of nature.
